Overview

This position is located in the Office of Inspector General, Office of Management and Policy (OMAP), Division of Procurement and Administrative Services, Branch of Administrative Services. The Operations Specialist shall provide customer service in the full range of administrative management functions including administrative support and facilities management throughout Headquarters. The Branch is the focal point within the OIG in providing day-to-day management and technical direction of OIG’s administrative management activities. This position is located in OIG Headquarters, Washington, DC.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Monitoring of a real-time ticketing portal system to field service requests for support activities within the scope of the Branch of Administrative Services.
  • Maintaining an inventory of office and agency-provided sanitation supplies, and provisioning OIG offices.
  • Providing feedback to the supervisor relative to administrative support services, and assisting him/her in implementing OIG procedures to promote efficient and effective administrative support for OIG headquarters while finding ways to eliminate bottlenecks and barriers.
  • Developing and maintaining contacts with counterparts in DOL agencies for the purpose of providing and seeking advice, information, and concerns relating to administrative and management matters that are unique to OIG operations.
  • Assures effective coordination and resolution of matters impacting administrative services thorough effective communication with service providers and customers.
  • Occasional clean-up, meeting setup, and event support.
  • Completing minor repairs of facilities and systems furniture, and coordinating other repairs and equipment servicing with a range of service providers.
  • Providing support for small construction projects and office re-configurations.
  • As directed, ensure that vacated workspaces, common areas, work rooms, and storage rooms are maintained in a suitable status through the proper disposal and/or storage of any unwanted items, and reasonable correction of any basic deficiencies in the space, including light cleaning, should that be necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Basic PC/Office Equipment skills, and basic knowledge of office productivity tools including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and the internet.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and Ability to stand 80% of the time, walk 15% of the time, and sit 5% of the time.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 70 pounds in order to handle supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and handle.
  • Ability to use ladders and stairs to reach high and low areas.
  • Ability to utilize basic tools and materials handling equipment.
  • Ability to utilize instructions to assemble and disassemble common office furniture.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and service providers.
  • Ability to see, and have depth perception to differentiate colors for safety reasons, and to resupply toner cartridges.

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system.
